Gabon – when to go

The question to go to Gabon is merely a question when you would like to see and do.

Gabon has in general a dry and wet season. The dry season runs from May till October and has temperatures around 20- 25 degrees and is merely cloudy. This is the best time to see Whales (July – October) and Gorillas in the Langoue Baie area. This is also a fabulous time for birders. The afternoon light makes it possible to shoot the greatest pictures.

The wet season runs from October till May with a small dry season from December till February. Temperatures runs between 28 and 32 degrees and will give clear blue skies. Elephants can be spotted relatively easily on the beach wilst feeding on fruits. Actually it is an even better time for going on a wildlife safari as there are more animals around on the savannahs.

Weather

Gabon is an average equatorial climate - hot, humid and cloudy. Throughout the year temperatures hover around the 30°C (86°F) mark and rarely drop below 20°C (68°F). June to August provides slighly cooler days and some respite from the rain.
